Would you like to help preserve the memories of your community? Do you enjoy local history and talking to people? If you do, you may be able to help us with this exciting new project. Stirling Council Libraries and Archives Service is working to preserve the recollections of your community to provide a resource for local and family history and to help those in your area living with dementia. Although the Archive does have a lot of information about the past in your local area, we need more images and accounts of the 1950s, 1960s, 1970s and 1980s.
We are asking people to share their photographs by having them digitally scanned so that we can create a ‘Memory Box’ for your area. We are also hoping that people will agree to being interviewed to make sure that those precious memories are recorded for the future. There will be a dedicated week at each library branch during which local people will be asked to bring in photographs and be interviewed for the oral history project. There will also be a drop-in session during the week of the project where you can chat to Archives and Library staff about your records and how best to store them and have your memories recorded as part of our oral history project.
