Plan of the road from Polmaise House to St Ninians Kirk, 18th Century

Our Document of the Month for May focuses on an estate plan found in the Murray of Polmaise collection held here at Stirling Archives (PD189)

The plans shows the road from Polmaise House to St Ninians Kirk and the mills and mill streams in the surrounding district. There is no date attached the plan, but we can assume it was produced sometime in 18th Century.

A nice touch attached to the plan are the illustrative drawings of Polmaise House, St Ninians Kirk and the various mills in the area. Dams and bridges are also recorded with the main roads to Stirling highlighted a distinctive yellow.
