Talk, John Allan Architect

Smith Art Gallery & Museum

Sat 7th May, 12pm – 1pm, £5/£3

Pam McNicol, Council Archivist

“The structure of walls, foundations, roofs, and chimneys of new buildings in so far as likely to affect human health…” the history of Stirling’s buildings as reflected in the Dean of Guild Court records.

As part of the celebrations to mark Scotland’s Year of Innovation, Architecture and Design in 2016, this talk examines an underused local historical resource. The plans of Stirling’s Dean of Guild court give a fascinating insight into some of Stirling’s best known buildings.

The talk will be lavishly illustrated with images of plans showing well known buildings, often as you have never seen them before.

Pam McNicol works at Stirling Council Archives caring for the historic records owned by the Council and donated by members of the community in the Stirling Council area.
